TEACHER MODEL: CITiZEN/ARTIST/TEACHER/LEARNER.

Those who work with CICA take on many jobs and multiple roles in relationship to the students. Acting as citizens, artists, teachers, and learners. These teacher artists encourage and promote their students to develop as active performers and musicians, helpful educators to their peers, open-minded learners, and responsible civic contributors. Students will see their teachers pro-actively working in their communities to advance the vision of CICA. They will see their teachers create art and showcase their work, and perform frequently, whether it be in a classroom demonstration, community events and/or theaters. The most important thing is for the students to see their teachers as learners. CICA lives by the model that “what you teach is who you are," the visible practice of these roles instructs young musicians, performers and artists about how to participate fully in life.
